Foods & Drinks Philosophy
The food direction is overseen by Tomohiro Maruyama of Cherche Co., Ltd. Based in Yoyogi-Uehara, he has been behind numerous popular restaurants and food and drink projects, including ‘MAISON CINQUANTECINQ’. Under the concept of ‘New Familiar Table’, we offer dishes that are a modern take on Japan’s Western-style culinary culture—somewhat nostalgic, yet somehow new. We offer a food and drink experience to be enjoyed throughout the day, from breakfast and lunch to dinner and bar time.
Nagoya, the setting for this venture, is Japan’s central kitchen where diverse culinary cultures intersect. Here, we are creating a space where high-quality food and drink blend with good music, forming the core layer of BLH _ UNION.

Boasting the largest spa area in the BASE LAYER HOTEL series, this facility is open to both hotel guests and non-residents with membership, offering an authentic retreat experience within a space designed to provide a sense of privacy.
The saunas have been developed in collaboration with the academic sauna label ‘madsaunist’. In addition to ‘madENGINE’—a unique sauna steam system introduced for the first time in the Tokai region—the design centres on the Kneipp method, where guests pour water over themselves whilst inside the sauna. The heat source is an electric stove from VETO, a historic Finnish sauna heater brand. A unique thermal pressure is created by combining the deep, grounding heat of ‘MAD STONE’—the finest sauna stones sourced by madsaunist after an extensive search across Japan—with the intense heat of Finnish sauna stones, and fusing this with the special steam generated by madENGINE.

Directed by Chihiro Yuda (Chan-chi), who runs the personal training gym ‘Thousand gym’ in Nihonbashi, Tokyo and also works as a fitness YouTuber, this is a space designed for those who enjoy wellness as part of their lifestyle. Based on the concept of ‘train, fine-tune, fulfil’, we provide a space that supports everything from daily conditioning to performance enhancement. We strive to create a sense of comfort for those who seek authenticity and view beauty not just from the perspective of the body, but through their entire lifestyle.
From daily conditioning to performance enhancement, this is a wellness space that views taking care of the body as the foundation of life.
